I've had problems with that too.  It seems that if the value that's
already there is negative, Modeler tries to subtract your new value from
the old value.  So, if "-3.5" is in the field, and you enter "2" in front
of it, then Modeler thinks you want "2 -3.5" or two minus
three-point-five, and givs you the "wrong" answer.  Positive values don't
seem to do this, since there's no sign in front of the old value and it
just replaces it.

I wish it would just recognize a space before the sign and not try to do
the math, but just replace the old value with the new one.
